Additional Information for disabled guests
The owner of this property is only too aware that there are too few holiday properties suitable for disabled guests and appreciates the wide range of different requirements each disabled person has. He knows that this apartment will not accommodate them all because the kitchen has not been adapted and the light switches are still at normal height, but hopes that it will make holidaying easier for those with friends, family or carer’s.
There is parking for one car at the rear of the property. The parking is approximately 30 metres from the property and there is a dropped kerb on the pavement. Entrance to the apartment is via a portable ramp, which will be either left in the hallway prior to arrival or already outside.
Inside the apartment, there is level access throughout, the minimum width of the hallway is 1m which then opens out to provide sufficient turning space in the hallway to allow wheelchairs to enter rooms. The front door and internal doors are 75cm wide. The patio door in lounge has an internal threshold ramp and a portable ramp to the garden patio, which is partly sheltered by the balcony of the flat above.
The main bedroom is a good size, the laminate flooring makes it easy to manoeuvrewheelchairs and hoists. There is a king size electric profiling bedwith independent controls for backrest tilt and leg raisers. The left side (as you lie) also has height adjustment.
Both a standing hoist - Arjo Sara 3000 with sling and legstraps and a full oxford hoist – Midi 170 (please bring your own sling as the one provided may be unsuitable for you) are provided but these can only be used on the left side of the bed because there is insufficient room at the bottom of bed to access the other side. The bed cannot be moved.
Due to the flexibility of this bed independent bedding is required for each side of the bed as single duvets are provided.
The wet room has a non sliplevel access surface to the shower and a wheeled shower chair is provided. There is also a Clos-o-mat bidet toilet which features washing and drying facilities. The wet room door opens outwards so it can close with the hoist inside.
The kitchen has not been adapted for disabled guests.
